New Jersey Breast Lift Procedure | NJ Plastic Surgeon
Body image can be a main contributor to a woman’s self-esteem. A surgical procedure such as a Breast lift otherwise known as Mastopexy can bring back a youthful contour to a woman’s breasts. Often times resulting in an uplifted self-esteem.
Many things contribute to a less than ideal breast shape. Factors such as age, pregnancy, weight loss, and gravity all help contribute to sagging breasts over time. However, with the results of a breast lift by trimming excess skin and tightening supporting tissue, patients can achieve the uplifted breasts they once had. Repositioning or resizing the nipple and areola with a device Dr. Rosenberg developed to determine the precise degree to which the nipples should be raised as well as the height can even be completed during the procedure for a better aesthetic outcome. The results are higher and firmer more aesthetically pleasing breasts. Some patients opt to combine the breast lift with a breast augmentation or reduction to achieve more desirable results in shape or fullness.
An ideal candidate for the breast lift procedure would have the following:
- Sagging breasts
- Breasts with loss of shape or volume
- Flat or elongated breasts
- Nipples or areolas that point downward
- Uneven breasts (one lower than the other)
- Have overall good health and have a stable weight
Dr. Rosenberg will discuss your plan and recovery instructions prior to your surgery. The procedure is performed in 1-3 hours as an outpatient procedure using general anesthesia. Dr. Rosenberg will discuss factors in his incision approach determined by the size, shape, amount of excess skin and degree of sagging in the breasts. He will determine whether you have sufficient soft tissue including breast gland and fat to restore the fullness achieved during the breast lift. During this time, an implant may be suggested to help restore the breast fullness.
The breast lift itself consists of removing a portion of excess skin and tightening of this skin upon a repositioned breast gland and/or implant, during the nipple and areola may be moved or resized as well. Once the lift is complete the incisions are closed with stitches.
Afterwards, patients may notice bruising, soreness, and swelling for a few days. The breasts are wrapped in an elastic bandage or surgical bra for a week, followed by a support bra worn for a month. After 7-10 days any remaining stitches will be removed and most patients can return to work. Exercise and other strenuous activities are delayed for a month. Patients can expect to see results immediately with the breasts looking and feeling better as the healing process continues.
